Ecotone is a large collaborative drawing made at Chelenzo Farms with artist Carol Flueckiger and Texas Tech Students. This oversized coloring book page starts out as a line drawing (blueprint/cyanotype) of plains coreopsis plants from the Playa Classroom in Nazareth, Texas. Participants hand draw their own objects such as smartphones, toys, hands, watches, sandwich, etc. into the plains coreopsis drawing and then interconnect their own objects with the plains coreopsis. in this way, participants are connecting themselves to nature and/or the specific story of playa wetlands. They are joined in this project by ecoartspace founder Patricia Watts who offers them thoughts about connecting their artwork to ecological issues. They think about regenerative farming practices on Chelenzo Farms where they are learning about soil that sustains plants.
