Ecotone

June 15-16. Los Cerrillos, New Mexico. Students Learn about ecotone, the edges between agricultural and synthetic ecosystems at Chelenzo Farms in Los Cerrillos, New Mexico. They practice drawing continuous line, negative space and color dripping effects to indicate complex agricultural ecosystems. Materials are generously funded by School of Art and Talkington College of Visual and Performing Arts.

 
 

Shaping Energy

May 16, 2026. Lubbock, Texas. Energy Meets Art workshop for Blue Party fundraiser at LHUCA Gallery 5&J. Participants were invited to think about renewable energy by applying gold leaf on the negative space of a 4.5x6 foot cyanotype of a tumbleweed. The negative space, or space between the branches indicates where sunlight exist in the composition.

 
 

Drawing Playa Wetlands

February 28, 2026. Levelland, Texas. Drawing Playa Wetlands workshop with Wallace Theatre community in Levelland. Color dripping, negative space and continuous line drawing helps participants learn about playa ecosystems and the movement to restore them. Materials are generously funded by School of Art and Talkington College of Visual and Performing Arts.

 
 

Solar Powered Painting

February 26, 2026. Levelland, Texas. Solar Powered Painting Workshop with Wallace Theatre community in Levelland. Participants think about the power of solar energy as they create bicycle designs using cyanotype on thrift store shirts. Materials are generously funded by School of Art and Talkington College of Visual and Performing Arts.
